The Ultrabead bead filter is the BEST possible filtration solution for all types of outdoor pools. Although most pool equipment vendors promote the use of sand filters for outdoor pools, similar to indoor pools, the real maintenance needs of these sand filters are often overlooked – for example, sand filters clog up very quickly during the period of pollen (early May to Midsummer). On the slightly windier days that follow the sunny and windless spring days, we are talking about hours here. For smaller, covered pools, pollen is usually not a major problem, as the pool is covered again after swimming, but in the case of particularly shaped or larger pools, covering is often not possible at all.

How does Ultrabead® work?
Bead filters are sealed pressure vessels filled with millions of floating plastic beads. As these beads are slightly lighter than water and do not rest at the bottom of the filter vessel, they ensure a freer flow of water and thus significantly more efficient mechanical filtration.
- Ultrabead mechanical filtration: the pressure of the pump pushes the water through the beads, while the dirt particles get trapped between the beads. The pressure of the beads presses the water through the beads, while the bead pressure forces the beads through the water. The biggest advantage of the Ultrabead filter here is the filter cleaning technology. The filter is cleaned in cooperation with an air pump. The air pump allows the entire contents of the filter to be shaken out and, after the filter washing cycle, the entire inside of the filter is completely cleaned. In comparison, sand filters have a static filter material and the washing process usually only flushes out the larger particles of dirt that have accumulated on the sand surface. Particles stuck in the deeper layers of the filter sand will remain there until the filter sand is replaced. Ultrabead filter media never needs to be removed, further cleaned or replaced.
- Ultrabead biological filtration (in the case of biological water bodies): the surface area of plastic beads is about 1600 m²/m³ per bead. The biofilm layer on top of the beads thus provides a huge additional surface area for bacteria to colonise and remove nitrogen, nitrite and nitrate.
Ultratronic automatic backwash system
Ultimate freedom to manage your outdoor pool and Ultrabead filtration system. Ultratonic III allows fully automatic backwashing of UltraBead filters. The unit automatically controls the air pump and filter pump and is easy to set up thanks to the control panel’s menu buttons. Possibility to carry out an extra backwashing procedure at the touch of a button. As with classic multiport valves, it is also possible to use the “waste” and “closed” positions.
Configuration options for the backwash function:
- Repeating the wash cycle – every 3, 5 or 7 days
- Wash cycle time: 2 to 3 minutes
- Air pump running time: 2 to 3 minutes
- Filter rinsing time: 20 to 40 seconds.
The device is equipped with a ModBus interface for external control and monitoring of one of the valve functions. This allows the valve to be moved to a specific position (open/closed) and to receive reports on faults and operating history. Ultratonic III is compatible with Fluidra Connect, which supports two operating modes: simple basic control via APP for end users and advanced control via the platform www.fluidraconnect.com for professionals.
NB: The capacity of the UltraBead 140 model with Ultratonic III automatic cleaning system is max 25 m³/h (UB140 allows 30 m³/h without automatic system), as the automatic backwash system uses 63mm piping.

Technical data:
- The filters are supplied with the specified filter material (plastic beads).
- UltraBead filters are made from unbreakable thermoplastic using a reliable injection moulding process.
- Maximum filter capacity with Ultratronic system: UB-60 – 18 m³/h, UB-100 – 24 m³/h, UB-140 – 25 m³/h (30 m³/h without Ultratronic).
- Recommended pump capacity: the pump must be able to pump half of the pool’s actual water volume through the filter in 1 hour at a head of 2-3 metres (0,2-0,3 bar).
- Maximum working pressure 2,5 bar.
Recommended water volumes per Ultrabead filter:
- UB-60 up to 80m³
- UB-100 up to 120m³
- UB-140 up to 200m³
In fish-inhabited water bodies, consider 2x smaller water body volumes.
